I believe these are one of the varieties of cat tail flowers. Please comment to this post if you know the exact name of this flower. I captured these shots during Iowa State Fair 2011 in Des Moines, Iowa.

I spent some leisure time last year, growing some red roses in my patio. It was fun watching them grow. When they were fully bloomed, I took these pictures. Honestly the dew drops were not from the actual rain, but I had sprayed water on the flower instead.
