Nepal went down to Netherlands by six wickets in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers at the ICC Global Cricket Academy, Dubai.

Invited to bat first, Nepal’s poor batting once again exposed as they were bundled
out for 85 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.

To make a worse start, Nepal lost their opener Pradeep Airee in the third over for total five runs. Then Sharad Veswakar, Paras Khadka, Mehaboob Alam joined with Airee at the pavilion. Along with Airee, Vesawkar, Khadka and Alma were dismissed to their individual 1-run score.

Vice captain Gyanendra Malla was
the top scorer for Nepal who collected 32 runs off 49 balls. Malla tried to steady the Nepal’s sinking ship after Captain Khadka was trapped lbw off Swart till the last over but was run out by Mudassar Bukhari five balls to spare. Other two batsmen Opener Anil Mandal and Basant Regmi chipped

in with double digit score. Mandal batted 24-ball 11 run and Regmi was not out for 20 off 17 balls.

Swart took two wickets while Mudassar Bukhari, Pw Borren and TLW Cooper each had one wicket in their kitty.

In reply, Netherland made heavy weather to chase the victory target losing four wickets in 13.5 overs to collect 86 runs.

Nepali spinners Basanta Regmi and Shakti Gauchan gave some fright to their adversary but all in vain. Regmi had three wickets haul while Gauchan took one wicket for Nepal.

TLW Cooper top scored with not out 18 runs whereas Sj Myburgh (15), Swart (16), W Barresi (14) and AN Kervezee (15) made a significant contribution in the victory of Netherland.

Afghanistan is at the top of Group A with 12 points remaining unbeaten while Netherlands collected 10 points at second spot. Canada defeated Denmark by 55 run to enter in the third place with 6 points in the table. Nepal in fourth spot with 6 points. Nepal was registered three victories and three defeats. Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong in the fifth place with equal points five while Bermuda and Denmark in the tail of table with 2 points.

Nepal will take on Canada in the last match of the league on Tuesday at at Sharjah Stadium in UAE.
