Security personnel on Wednesday defused three bombs planted in two public buses and a parking lot in the capital.
Bomb disposal squads from the Nepal Army and the Nepal Police defused the improvised explosives. One Nepal Communist Party (People´s War Group) has claimed to have planted the bombs.
The first bomb was spotted in a parking lot at Gokarna VDC-9 at around 11:30 am. A similar explosive was found in a bus at Tilangetar. The third one was found at Chabahil in a bus.
SP Rajendra Shrestha, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, said that the socket bombs may have been planted by underground outfit in an attempt to spread terror.
Meanwhile, the capital panicked throughout the day following rumors about bombs at several busy places like shopping malls and restaurants. “All those rumors turned out to be a hoax,” said Shrestha.
