CDO enjoys cook’s salary

JAJARKOT, Sept 8 - There is no cook at the District Administration Office (DAO) Jajarkot. But his salary is disbursed. To whom does the money go?

Chief District Officer (CDO) Resham Bahadur Pandey was transferred to Jajarkot in mid-November last year. He has neither hired a personal secretary nor a cook. Nonetheless, Rs 8,280 is disbursed in the personal secretary’s name and Rs 6,600 in the cook’s. It has been revealed that CDO Pandey has been forging and keeping the sum to himself.

A staffer at the DAO says Raju Magar and Kamala Pandey had been appointed the cook and the personal secretary respectively only in “paper form”. But they are never seen working at the DAO. The forgery at the DAO shows that CDO Pandey has been receiving salary of “fake employees” from mid-November till mid-August.

The government had taken action against CDO Pandey accusing of not working effectively during the outbreak of diarrhoea in the district. When he was transferred again, he took the laptop and mobile sim cards issued in the name of the DAO from the office. Later when it was made public that he took the laptop worth Rs 85,000, he has sent a laptop made by a Chinese company worth only Rs 40,000, a staffer at the DAO informed asking to remain anonymous.
